Healthier Swap Suggestions

Today, I wanted to share a few changes that I've made in my diet over the past few months. Sticking to a specific diet can be challenging, which is why I decided to improve my overall nutrition by making healthier food swaps in my meals. Rather than restricting myself to certain foods, I've changed my approach to what I allow myself to eat or what can be swapped for something healthier. Below is what a typical day looks like for me:

1. Breakfast

My daily breakfast is always an AdvoCare Meal Replacement Shake! These shakes are a life saver for me, because my mornings tend to be busy and I'm always on the run to work. Each shake is packed with 24 grams of protein (this specific shake shown above is plant-based protein) and keeps me full until lunch time. The taste is amazing because these shakes are flavored by Häagen-Dazs (the ice cream company!). I'm a creature of habit, so I almost never go a morning without my shake in hand.

On the occasion when I feel like switching up my mornings with a fruitier taste, I will blend up a Daily Harvest Smoothie. These smoothie advertisements kept popping up on my social media, so I decided to try them out- so far I love them! The smoothies are all real, natural ingredients that come frozen. All you add is the liquid of your choosing (I usually blend mine with unsweetened almond milk), blend, and go. I currently get 6 smoothies delivered each week. I also have the option to skip deliveries.

The idea of convenience is super important to me for my breakfast each morning. I prefer something quick but still nutritious, so my shakes and smoothies are a perfect match for me.

2. Lunch

My lunches are a little random. Most days, you'll catch me eating a microwavable Healthy Choice steamed frozen meal along with some yogurt. Other days I'll have a homemade sandwich and some fruit. But my trusty constant is the cottage cheese cup shown above. These cute little things hold 10 grams of protein and are only 70 calories. I love these because I feel that the protein helps hold over my hunger longer in the afternoons.

3. Dinner

I am a Hello Fresh fanatic! The number one reason why is because I love the convenience. I have never been a great cook, so when I found out about Hello Fresh's meal delivery kits I was curious. I loved the idea of not having to grocery shop for each tedious ingredient and I loved how the recipes guided the user (even for those unfamiliar with cooking techniques like me). I get 3 meals delivered each week and I can skip weeks if I'm out of town or have other dinner plans. Aaron really likes to get involved in picking out the meals and I've enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone and trying new foods.

4. Snacks

I love all fruits and veggies, so most days I will have a baggie full to munch on. When I don't have fruit or veggies, I like to snack away on Lärabars. I prefer the taste over other leading health bars and the simplicity of ingredients that are not genetically modified.

I also love my yogurt! These drinkable yogurts by Siggi's are sooo yummy and perfect for people on-the-go. They have 8 grams of protein and taste delicious.

5. Beverages

Another change I've added: tea. I used to never be a fan of tea, but I've somehow grown to like it. When I was younger, I always drank tea when I was sick and loaded that cup full of honey (so it was mostly honey and a little bit of tea). I now drink tea frequently and enjoy the taste without the loaded amounts of honey.

I still have some work to do in my weight loss journey, but I'm happy with the small choices that I've implemented so far. I'm hoping this helps motivate you all to make small adjustments to your diet and make steps toward a healthier you!
