Friendsgiving 2018

This past weekend was the start of a tradition: Friendsgiving.

My good friends Makenzie, from Simply Makenzie, and Austin hosted their first get-together at their place. I was so excited at the idea of dinner with my closest friends. Makenzie's sister, Shelby from Shelby Lynn Designs, designed these super adorable invites for the event:

When we first arrived to their apartment, I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous fall decorations that Makenzie put up throughout the kitchen and living room. Makenzie's family always amazes me at the detail they put into all of their home decor.

The apartment was filled with leaf garlands, pumpkins, and the familiar smell of stuffing. Makenzie had planned everything down to the glitter stir sticks, rose gold silverware, paper straws and custom Snapchat filter.

Each person was asked to bring a dish to pass around the table. The buffet featured ham, mac n' cheese, mashed potatoes, veggies, rolls, and stuffing. After dinner, we set out a dessert table that some of us gathered around. I went a little out of my comfort zone and made two desserts: a pumpkin cake with homemade cream cheese frosting and a cheesecake fruit fluff. I'm not much of a baker so I was surprised when they ended up being a little hit!

What a blast we all had! We're already planning a Friendsmas for December that'll include a white elephant gift exchange (stay tuned).

The food was incredible, but the company was even better. We shared so many laughs and my heart felt so full by the end of the night. I can't even being to express how much my friends mean to me. Each friend is special in their own way and I am so grateful for every friendship we share. Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays solely because we are given the opportunity to appreciate all the great people and blessings in our lives (even though I truly believe this should be a focus year-round).

Today, I want to say THANK YOU to all of my incredible friends. Old and new. You are the reason I am where I am now. You are the ones who got me through some of the most difficult times these past couple of years. The late night talks. The double dates. The embarrassing Snapchats. The nights out on the town. The nights gathered around the fire. The nights spent in the garage. And the days full of laughter. I am so incredibly grateful for you. Your kind of friendship is so rare and the memories we share are unforgettable. I'm so grateful to have people like you in my life who care about my personal growth as if it's part of your own. Your support, love and encouragement goes farther than you'll ever know. You all know who you are.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Who are you grateful for?
